We’ve been working on a couple more songs the last couple weeks and we’re pretty stoked. We’ll be releasing all the new songs on some sort of EP type dealie soon and can’t wait to come and rock your face.

We hope to be getting back into playing some shows when the weather calms down enough for us to get the van out of the snow. Basically, there’s about 3 feet of snow on it right now and thats just from the last few days! We gotta literally dig that baby out everytime (well mostly Lee does..cause Im usually late for everything and by the time I show up he has it done…I dont do it on purpose – I promise Lee). Im sure a lot of you snow-people know what Im talking about. And I’m sure a lot of you non-snow-people don’t! jerks…kidding! The snow is pretty awesome for certain things – like snow angels, snow-unicorn racing, snowboarding, and peeing! what?

So exams were around this time for a lot of people – We didn’t write any cause we’re done with that! But I remember how freaking amazingly fun exams were…;) But I hope they went awesome, you’re feeling free, and that your lives are kickbum!

Hey people of the universe whats going down? its just me checkin in to see howthings are. i got hungry earlier and was thinking of what i could cook / bake / craft / heat up and i was like…yeah…. too much work.. so i went with good old trusty cereal! cant go wrong am I right? Plus to be honest i cant really do any of the above anyway… except i can make a mean grill cheese sandwich Ok so back to the cereal what is your fav cereal?? i would have to say.. Cap’n Crunch would be up there as one of the top.. actually take a look at the box you will notice that his eyebrows are attached to his hat!! and he looks extremely happy (kinda weird) hahaha… me and Philj usually make a weird voice to imitate what he would sound like if he was a real person / pirate….yeah i dunno where im goin with this…so…ya….umm…..Smallville was on this week! If you are interested in knowing a little more about the song and the way it was written – keep reading! (If not, close this window now…but still head over to www.myspace.com/aftertheanthems to hear it for real’s)

Prelude is one of the songs that are very personal to me on the record and its also one of the most complicated songs I’ve ever written and actually came about over the course of 2 years. For those who know the song – you’ll know that “Prelude” and “This is the Sound” work together and create one song. Well, originally it WAS one song but when we went into the studio to record it – it became two because there was so much we wanted to do with it.

The first “movement” of Prelude which I consider to be the verse/chorus/verse/chorus part at the beginning was inspired out of having so many questions in life and how there are so many problems. There’s so much going on and I felt disconnected from everything…confused, frustrated, lost – like I was living but not really actually there – u know? I dont know its weird. And I was just sitting at a piano and just kept playing the chords for the first verse and I just started singing what was in my heart. Eventually I made the words fit better.
And then a few months later – the “this is the sound” part just kinda came from nowhere and fit into the song – which is why I feel like it’s not even my song – it’s something more – and I love it because its so simple and says so much -it completes the song in a call/answer sort of way. The first part of the song is a call sent out …and “this is the sound” is the response to pick us up and take us away – and even though it doesn’t come right out and explain everything in life- it seems to say more than any amount of words could – to me anyway.

It’s hard to fit eveything that went into those two songs in a short message but I hope that this at least helps to show where my heart was at while writing it. And Im so glad that we have the chance to share our music with other people and hopefully help them in their journey too. So thanks for listeneing.

Basically the song is about realizing the amazing power of Love and the chance we have to keep starting over – to start over when we make mistakes, when we feel lost, when there are so many problems around us that we think there’s nothing left to live for. The message is to let it in – let Love and everything that is so amazing about it into your heart. Because if we open up to it and search for it – it will find us in our darkest days and show us that it isn’t too late – we are just getting started.
So watch the video, listen to the music, and hopefully it will be part of this journey to help us to let Love into our hearts again.

We have been having a great tour with the guys from Parade The Day for the last week and a bit. Some of the shows haven’t been the greatest for turnouts but its been great meeting all the people coming out to the shows. We will be back home in Canada for Christmas very soon and I am -sort of- looking forward to the snow. Even though I’ve really loved the warm weather in the south… We have a bunch more shows here in the US still so if you can make it to a show I know we would love to meet you.

Well Im getting really tired now – probably because its 2 in the morning and the 8 pop tarts and can of spagetti I had today are wearing off. ahh…touring….haha

A lot has happened since our last update. We had 2 days off last Friday and Saturday so we hooked up with our friend Ben Knechtel of Motion For Music and we shot a music video for “Let It In” in Langley, BC. Ben has shot videos for Ten Second Epic, Disciple, Falling Up, Thousand Foot Krutch, Hawk Nelson etc. and it was a real honour and blessing for us to work with such a talented guy. Check out some of his stuff at www.motionformusic.com. We will post an update real soon as to when the video will be released…we can’t wait until its finished so we can share it with you guys.

We are also heading to the United States! We are doing a month and a half long U.S Tour starting in the west and working our way back east to be home for Christmas. The Tour starts in Salem, OR and wraps up in Buffalo, NY. We are doing a large chunk of the Tour with a band from Northern Virginia called “Parade The Day” (http://www.myspace.com/paradetheday) and a band from Maryland called “The Dropout Year” (http://www.myspace.com/dropoutyear). We are really excited to be hooking up with both those bands. It’s going to be such a goodtime.

Nonetheless, we can’t wait to jump the border and meet/hangout with all you guys from the U.S. The e-mails and comments about us coming down have been amazing and we can’t wait to meet you all. All the dates will be posted soon- so keep checking back and if you see an off date and we are in your area feel free to e-mail us and hopefully we can hook up a show.

We love you guys so much and we are so lucky to have such an amazing bunch of friends (cause that’s what you guys are). This is a journey that we are all on together. There will be more updates soon, so until then, stay in touch and we will see you guys real soon.

After the Saskatchewan shows we made our way to Alberta where we stopped at the West Edmonton Mall for the afternoon before our show in Stony Plain that night. That was a great day (you can check out some photos of that “epic” adventure on our pics section).

We are now in Grand Forks, BC and we just got back from “The Gathering Youth Convention”. It was an incredible night and we had so much fun. It’s hard to believe that we have gone coast to coast in the last few weeks. We definitely live in the most beautiful country in the world. We are having an awesome time out here with Kiros and the people we have been meeting, staying with, hanging out with have been amazing. We are truly blessed to be out here doing this.

So we’ve just finished up a large portion of the East Coast leg of the Tour and it has been awesome. Everyone that has been coming out, picking up a record and just hanging out has been amazing. We have had so much fun. We are so thankful to be out here with you guys….

Tonight we had Thanksgiving dinner in Halifax with Kiros. We weren’t able to have a Thanksgiving meal on the actual holiday since we were in Quebec. So to be out here with these guys and celebrating so many things we are thankful for is awesome.
